Isabella has finally found a job! She is now working at the restaurant "La Dolce Vita" in Notting Hill. Today is her first day and she is very excited.
At 9 o'clock Isabella arrived at the restaurant. Her boss Lorenzo greeted her warmly. "Welcome, Isabella! I am so glad you are here," he said. Lorenzo also comes from Italy and speaks perfect English. Isabella thinks this is great because she can learn a lot from him.
First Lorenzo showed her everything: the kitchen, the dining room and the office. Then Isabella received her uniform — black trousers and a white blouse with the restaurant logo. She looks very professional!
At lunchtime the first guests arrived. Isabella was a little nervous because she had never worked as a waitress before. But the guests were very friendly. An older gentleman ordered spaghetti carbonara. Isabella brought him the food and said in English: "Enjoy your meal!" The guest smiled and replied: "Thank you, that looks delicious!"
In the afternoon Isabella had a short break. She drank a cappuccino and talked with her colleague Maria. Maria has been working at the restaurant for two years. She gave Isabella many tips: "Always be friendly to the guests. And if you don't understand something, just ask!"
In the evening the restaurant was very busy. Isabella served many tables and was on her feet all evening. She was tired, but also very happy. Lorenzo said to her: "You did very well, Isabella! I am proud of you."
At home Isabella sent a message to her friend Sofia in Rome: "My first day at work was great! I am tired, but I love my new job. London is truly my city!"
Isabella now knows that she made the right decision. She has not only found a job, but also new friends. And her English gets better every day!
